The Queen is celebrating her platinum jubilee this year, marking 70 years on the throne, which means the UK will get an extra bank holiday.
And while the King passed the historic milestone in February, the celebration was moved to June, when it will be combined with the spring bank holiday for a four-day welcome weekend.
Buckingham Palace has planned an extensive program of events for the celebration, including a detailed parade through central London.
This is what you need to know.
What is alignment, date, and path?
More than 10,000 people will participate in organizing the event on the afternoon of Sunday 5 June.
It will be held with Buckingham Palace and the surrounding streets as a backdrop, along a 3-kilometre route, a 3-kilometer route similar to the one taken by the Queen during her coronation.
Organizers say it will attract hundreds of millions of spectators from around the world in a similar way to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
Several “national treasures” were announced to participate in this event. While the list of stars remains a secret, the Spice Girls have indicated that they will not appear, with Ed Sheeran appearing on stage to top a special salute.
Other celebrities confirmed to attend include Sir Cliff Richard, Dame Shirley Bassey, Kate Moss, Jeremy Irons, Jane Torville, Christopher Dean, Gary Lineker, Rosie Jones, Cadena Cox, Alan Titchmarsh, Heston Blumenthal, James Martin, Bill Bailey and Jokowan .
The event will be divided into four acts: for the queen and the country, the time of our lives, let us celebrate, rejoice and be amazed.
The For Queen and Country section will feature a 1,750-person, 200-horsepower parade, one of the largest and most spectacular military parades in modern history, according to the organizers.
The Time of Our Lives will celebrate seven decades of culture, music and fashion with Lambeth walkers, jivers, hippies, teddy boys, mods, glam rockers, punk, new romantics, ravers, britpoppers, junglists and breakbeaters.
Daleks, Sinclair C5s and a fleet of iconic cars from the James Bond films dating back to the 1960s will have starring roles, as will celebrities who have been “essential to British culture” including Sir Cliff and Dame Shirley.
Chapter Three, Let’s Celebrate, will tell the story of the Queen’s life in 12 chapters, full of references to the Queen’s love of dogs and horses.
In one section, elite BMX riders will be jumping on Land Rovers, while another will feature rugby and Paralympic basketball teams, as well as special needs and performance artists from Bristol’s Peugeot Circus group.
During a tribute to her 1953 coronation, a massive bust of the Queen will appear in a wireframe.
This Afro-Caribbean interpretation of the coronation, by Brent-based Mahogany Carnival Arts, imagines the animal kingdom’s response to Princess Elizabeth’s accession to the throne in 1952 while on safari in Kenya.
The Queen’s 1947 wedding to the Duke of Edinburgh, who died last year, will be highlighted by a giant four-tiered wedding cake baked by acrobats chefs on the go, in a performance by Birmingham-based Nokhot Group.
The final act, Happy and Glorious, will be shown in front of the palace and will include the singing of the national anthem and Sheeran’s performance.

According to the event’s website, information on whether tickets will go on sale will be announced “in due course.”
It will also be broadcast live on BBC One if you are unable to attend.
