The Foreign Ministers of India and the United Kingdom held a meeting

During the talks, Jaishankar said bilateral relations are showing tangible progress, although much remains to be done, according to All India Radio.

The relationship between India and the United Kingdom was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the virtual summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Boris Johnson on May 4 last year.

A Foreign Office statement said Truss will also take part in the inauguration of the India-UK Strategic Future Forum, a dialogue organized by the Indian Council on Global Affairs and Policy Exchange.

This is the second visit by the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth Affairs and Development and the Minister for Women and Equality to India since the Virtual Summit.

Truss’ journey will also deepen partnership in various sectors such as trade and investment, science and technology, innovation, defense and security, climate cooperation, education and digital communications.

The UK chancellor is trying to add India to the anti-Russian front set up by the Western powers.

Russia launched what President Vladimir Putin called a special military operation in Ukraine’s Donbass Autonomous Region on February 24, after the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics requested help in repelling the aggression of nationalist forces.

The United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union and other NATO allies have implemented economic and financial sanctions against entities, businessmen and organizations they consider close to the Kremlin.

New Delhi is reluctant to join the anti-Russian rhetoric promoted by Western powers and has instead called on the parties to the conflict to resolve their differences through dialogue.
