Brazil and the United States dominate the Palmas del Caribe Cup

The Americans Mansi Fadila and Elle Warren defeated Puerto Rican women’s doubles champion Daniela O’Neill and her partner Amara Brahmbhat 7-5, 6-3 to be crowned the women’s doubles champions. The International Youth Tennis Championships, the Palmas del Caribe Cup, which ends tomorrow, Saturday, at the Honda Tennis Center in Bayamon.

In the men’s doubles, the trophy was in the hands of Brazilians Luca Bignaton and Rafael Gracie, who beat the duo of Korea’s Dae Hyun-bak and Canadian Danny Yassin in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 10- 7.

Friday’s activities also included the individual semi-final match for both legs.

American Delaney Trippi beat Japan’s Ichino Horikawa 6-3, 6-3, while Japan’s Wakana Sonobi beat Christasha McNeil 6-3, 6-4.

In the men’s category, Spain’s Julian Alonso maintained his dominance by defeating American Robert Zang 6-4, 6-3. In the second semi-final, Spaniard Bernardo Monique Mesa beat American Parathinav Chorundo in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

The Palmas del Caribe Cup will end on Saturday with the singles finals starting at 9:00 a.m.. Entry to the tennis center is free.
