CDMX Guests Participate in the Spring 2022 Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference

The Undersecretary for the Security of Citizens (SSC) Prison System in Mexico City held its Spring 2022 Mental Health and Welfare Conference, which it called “Celebrating Life.”

Monday’s actions included a variety of multidisciplinary activities in the capital’s prisons, including notable workshops on anger management and life preservation, as well as meditation and relaxation.

This program was signed under the Mechanism for Prevention, Detection and Concern for Self-Harmful Behaviors of Persons Deprived of Liberty, published in 2018.

The day of activities will run until March 25, which is expected to benefit at least 3,000 people deprived of liberty in Mexico City.

Institutions such as the General Secretariat for Women, the Office of the Mayor of Iztapalapa, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Autonomous University of Metropolitan (UAM) and the Iberoamerican University, as well as NGOs such as the Mexican Association of Associates in Legal Psychology and Criminal Law (AMPJYDP), and Trans Collective for Freedom to Be One and Decide, and Project Light.

The goal, according to the authorities, is to encourage prisoners to firmly realize what actions they can take to achieve a better standard of living.

The Workshops entitled “Better Decision, Better Story,” which was presented at the Women’s Center for Social Reintegration in Santa Martha, highlight the gathering of knowledge on these issues; – “Anxiety, depression and anger” taught in the reformatory. “Meditation Techniques”, at the Men’s Center for Psychosocial Reintegration (Cevaripsi); “Recognizing and Labeling My Feelings,” at the Tiban Women’s Center for Social Reintegration; “Dispute Resolution” in Orient Preventive Prison for Men; Also “Breathe and relax your mind” in all prison centers.
