The Russian ambassador confirms the failure of US policy towards Venezuela

In an interview with Culture Minister Ernesto Villegas, the Russian diplomat emphasized that the recent visit of a US government delegation to Caracas constituted an acknowledgment of the legitimate Venezuelan authorities and the wrong policies to bring about regime change.

“This approach that they are now proposing to buy oil – among other topics of discussion – (…) is evidence that they have learned it now. Here there is a government with a constitutional president, Nicolas Maduro ”, asserted the representative of Moscow.

In this regard, the ambassador endorsed Russia’s position in favor of normalizing relations between the United States and Venezuela, on the basis of mutual respect, while emphasizing support for the dialogue process between all political sectors of the South American country.

Likewise, Melek Bagdasrov acknowledged the support and solidarity of the Venezuelan authorities in their statement against the unilateral coercive measures implemented by the West in retaliation for the military operation launched by Russia on Ukrainian territory on February 24.

Venezuela is a strong voice against the sanctions imposed on our country. “We appreciate it very much and are grateful for this important support,” said the diplomat, who also highlighted the strength of bilateral relations and points of agreement between Moscow and Caracas in the face of problems on the global agenda.

The ambassador explained that in the face of allegations of US hegemony and the application of hundreds of punitive measures, his country will advance in strengthening cooperation relations with other strategic partners in the world.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military operation in Ukraine, after the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics unilaterally requested assistance in confronting Kyiv’s aggression.
