These are the amazing locations where the movie Stay Close was filmed.
Based on Harlan Coben’s bestselling book of the same title, Stay Close depicts the disturbing events that take place in an unnamed town in northern England. Starring award-winning The Good Wife alum Cush Jumbo and The Hobbit actor Richard Armitage in the lead roles, the eight-episode show is a horrific series of murders.

Harlan Coben’s book is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey, while the latest Netflix version is mostly filmed in Manchester, Blackpool and Merseyside in the UK. Places like Blackpool’s Central Pier Big Wheel can be seen in the background of select scenes.
Formby’s Shorex Hill lights up the moon like the Snake Club, Meghan’s former workplace perilously close to where the bodies are hidden. Shorrocks Hill was used for the outdoor shots of the Vipers Club. The interior footage was filmed at the Impossible Bar in Manchester, according to The Manc.

The scenes around Meghan’s stag party were filmed at The Refuge, a stylish restaurant and bar on Oxford Road in Manchester. Didsbury’s Northern Lawn (or “The Northern”) tennis club can be seen in episode 1 of season 1, according to the Manchester Evening News. The team also visited places like the spa and gym at The Edwardian Manchester, a Radisson Collection hotel.
The Silver Jubilee Bridge connecting Runcorn and Widnes is shown in the background of many scenes. The dream statue, a 67-foot-tall Jaume Plensa sculpture in Sutton, St. Helens, Merseyside, doubles as a meeting point for the many characters at Stay Close.
Dream Sculpture was used in place of Lucy the Elephant, a Designated National Historic Landmark in Margate City, NJ, which received several mentions at Harlan Coben’s Stay Close.
“This head was funnier because it’s really as big as it looks,” Bethany Antonia, the actress who plays Kylie Shaw, told Radio Times. “It was huge, yet the entrance was a small maintenance deck that you had to crawl into.”
“You would have thought there would be all this space in this head, but there was none, so every time we did something there, we were all huddled together in a little house,” he said. “It was so much fun, but it looks great. It’s such a milestone in the show, and anyone who watches the show and then watches it will be amazed at how great it is. It wasn’t modified to look that big at all.”
Knowsley Safari Park in Prescot also appears in the series, next to Morecambe Bay, which is the site of Lorraine’s apartment.
Stay Close is now available on Netflix.
