London, November 14 (EFE). The UK unemployment rate was 4.2% between August and October, compared to 4.3% between July and September, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported Tuesday.
British unemployment continues its downward trend despite the fact that the aid scheme implemented by the government during the pandemic, in which the executive branch paid a large part of the salaries of those affected, expired on September 30.
The number of people on payroll increased 0.6% to 29.4 million between October and November.
The employment rate reached 75.5% between August and October of this year, while the economic inactivity rate was 21.2%, according to data provided by the National Statistics Office.
The number of people on the payroll is above pre-pandemic levels across the country, the director of economic statistics at the Office for National Statistics, Darren Morgan, said Tuesday.
“A lot of the recent growth in employment has been for those not working full time, who were particularly affected at the start of the pandemic,” he added. EFE
