The UK is putting Facebook in a criminal situation due to the harmful effects on the social network

British Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries has warned Facebook and its bosses on their way to criminal prosecution for failing to control the harmful effects of their platform.

“Why do we give them two years to change what they can change today?” Doris said. “Get rid of your malicious algorithms today and you, as specific individuals, will not be subject to criminal accountability or prosecution.”

Douri was speaking with members of the joint committee tasked with drafting the bill on Thursday. The UK is currently studying a draft online security bill, which will be administered by regulator Ofcom and submitted for approval next month.

“I am looking forward to three to six months of criminal responsibility,” he added. “I think it’s ridiculous that the platforms have two years to prepare for what might be a criminal act. They know what they are doing wrong now.”

Spokesman Facebook social networking site The UK did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Internet Security Bill will attempt to impose liability for illegal or potentially harmful content, such as material that promotes terrorism or spreads misinformation about Covid-19. Companies can be fined up to 10% of global annual revenue if they violate regulations.

“Mark Zuckerberg, Nick Clegg and others who want to break into the world of Metaverse, my advice is to stay in the real world,” Doris added. “You will be responsible for this act.”

Dorries was also skeptical about Meta Platforms Inc. , the new name of the parent company of Facebook, and its recently announced plans to hire 10,000 people in Europe to advance its vision for the “metaverse”.

He said “rebranding doesn’t work”. “When the damage is done, we go after it. Get these engineers to abide by your terms and conditions now and remove the malicious algorithms.”
