The Costa Rican president stressed that “just as decisive action is required on the right track, there is a need for available resources and financing because there are countries that are more vulnerable to the consequences of climate change.”

By unveiling Alvarado’s agenda in Glasgow, where he will be until Thursday, Casa Presidential indicates that the goal is to outline Costa Rica’s efforts to tackle climate change and preserve the environment, promote sustainable development and promote decarbonization.

He specifies that in his intervention at various forums, conferences and events, the President will present the example of Costa Rica regarding environmental protection and will discuss with world leaders, such as the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, on proposals and possible solutions to the critical climatic situation facing the planet.

Likewise, he continues, he will attend bilateral meetings with world leaders, learn about conservation projects and attend high-level meetings invited by Prince Charles of Wales and Prince William.

In this sense, he indicates that Alvarado will represent Costa Rica at an activity for the winners of the Earthshot Prize, invited by Prince Guillermo, and at the Ashden delivery, at the invitation of His Highness Carlos.

He explained that this means having financing to support mitigation and adaptation, clear rules in the markets and transparency that preserve the environmental integrity of the agreement and a clear path to phase out fossil fuels and improve the quality of life.
