The supervision was performed yesterday at the El Salado Animal Center at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics (FMVZ) at BUAP in Tecamachalco.

It was reviewed by university president Alfonso Esparza Ortiz, who noted the space’s past flaws in terms of water, machinery and a lack of safety.

He explained that improvements have been made in the educational infrastructure, such as the construction of a security fence in this area.

As well as re-pumping water and starting a rainwater storage tank with a capacity of one million liters, alleviating the shortage and creating a reserve of fluids to feed animals and produce fodder. He said, such as fodder corn, corn and oats.

During his tour of the different animal production units, Esparza Ortiz verified the installation of more than 50 lights and electrical maintenance in the different production units, such as cattle, sheep, goats and pigs, as well as the milking parlor.

For his part, Fernando Utrera Quintana, Director of FMVZ, expressed his appreciation for the President’s support to renovate the spaces that make up this academic unit, for the benefit of the students and the educational and administrative community.

He cited, for example, maintenance in painting, waterproofing, gardening, blacksmithing, plumbing, electricity and lighting, hospitals of small and large species, graduate and central buildings, as well as an animal husbandry centre.
