With the latest travel review, thousands of people followed up to find out which countries to switch between the green, amber and red lists.
Not only can holiday plans be cancelled, but it’s also a chance in an international city like London to see loved ones after the pandemic.
The latest update to the UK’s traffic light system was announced on August 26.

He has seen Switzerland, the Azores, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Liechtenstein and Lithuania on his green travel list.
Except that it’s not just about UK rules, you need to keep abreast of developments – with the coronavirus still a concern, governments across Europe have introduced their own rules regarding international travel.

Otherwise, you could get an expensive Covid test or worse, get rejected at the border.
These are the latest tips for France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Cyprus after the travel update.
France
Amber List Rules
As a country on Amber’s list, travelers returning to the UK after a trip to France must follow a long list of rules.
Breaking it can result in fines of £1,000 for an increase in the first offense with repeat offences.
Before returning to England, you must:
- Get tested for Covid-19 in the three days before you travel
- Book and pay for more Covid-19 tests to bring into the UK
- Complete the passenger location form
The next steps depend on whether or not you’ve been vaccinated.

If you have both strokes, you don’t have to be in quarantine. All you need to do is take a Covid test on or before the second day of your return.
If you are not fully vaccinated, you will need to be quarantined at home or where you are staying for 10 days. You should take a Covid test on or before the second day and on or after the eighth day.
You can use the editing test to come out on the fifth day.
France entry rules
On the other hand, France has its own rules.
Only vaccinated people can enter the country without a valid reason for being there.
At the border, you will be asked to prove your vaccination status and to complete an affidavit.
Unvaccinated people will need:
- Show an essential reason to travel with International Travel Certificate
- Complete an affidavit
- Provide evidence of a negative PCR test within 24 hours of departure
- Self-isolate for seven days before another PCR test
Spain

As a country on the Amber List, travelers returning to England from Spain will need to follow the same rules outlined above.
Fortunately, it is easier to carry than France for people entering the country.
When you arrive in Spain, you will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test taken within 72 hours prior to the flight.
You should too Complete and sign the online health monitoring form before traveling.

Portugal

Although mainland Portugal is included in the amber list, some of the islands’ territories are not.
Madeira is on the green watch list.
The Azores will turn green at 4 a.m. on Monday, August 30. If you came to England from the Azores before that, you should follow the rules of the amber menu.
Returning from areas on the Green List means that you will not have to self-isolate, but you will still need to:
- Take a Covid test in the three days before you travel
- Book and pay for the second day trial before you travel, then take the second day
- Complete the passenger locator form

Italy
As one of the countries of the amber list when you return to England, you must follow the rules outlined in the France section above.
Italy does not currently recognize British vaccination certificates, so all travelers will have to follow the same rules.
You will need:
- Submit a negative COVID test done within 48 hours prior to travel.

- 5 days of self-isolation
- Then take another test
Greece

Another amber country according to the UK traffic light system.
People trying to enter Greece must prove that they have one of the following three things:

A negative rapid antigen test is performed within 48 hours of travel

They will also need to complete a passenger location form.
Cyprus
Cyprus has been classified as a country with amber hazards by the United Kingdom.
On the other hand, the UK is classified as a red country according to the Cyprus authorities.

Fully vaccinated people will not need to undergo PCR testing before or after arrival.
Non-vaccinated individuals will need to undergo a PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure and another upon arrival at Larnaca or Paphos airports.
