Serbian Novak Djokovic, Who will be seeking to win the US Open to complete a Grand Slam in a calendar year, quit on Monday from playing the Cincinnati Masters 1000 next week.
The world number one said he needed more time to recover after playing in the Tokyo Olympics, where he left without winning a medal.

Knoll has 20 Grand Slam titles in his window, and this year he’s already won the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Djokovic is the latest Cincinnati Masters 1000 champion.
Announcing his decision not to play this tournament, in preparation for the US Open, which begins at the end of the month, Djokovic said on social networks: “I wanted to share with you that I’m going to take a little longer to recover after a very stressful trip from Australia to Tokyo. Unfortunately, that means I won’t be ready to compete in Cincinnati this year, so I’ll focus my attention on the US Open and spend more time with my family. See you soon in New York!”

Five former champions are still registered for the Cincinnati Masters 1000: two-time Scottish champion Andy Murray (2011, 2008), Russia’s Daniil Medvedev (2019), Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (2017), Croatia’s Marin Cilic (2016) and Rafael Nadal (2013).
The women’s championship will also feature five former champions: American Serena Williams (2015, 2014), Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (2020, 2013), American Madison Keys (2019), Venezuelan Spain’s Garbine Muguruza (2017) and Czech Republic. Karolina Pliskova (2016).
