Jerzees Nuevo Día celebrates its first Bachelor of Science and Humanities degree – Diario La Tribuna

Jerzees Nuevo Día, a subsidiary of the Fruit of the Loom, Inc. , in Honduras, at the company’s facilities located in Choloma, a graduation ceremony for a group of six employees. who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Humanities.

Jerzees Nuevo Día employees studied through the Instituto Hondureño de Educación por Radio (IHER), implemented by Fruit of the Loom, Inc. In its various companies since 2012. IHER provides opportunities to all associates who wish to advance in education.

The event was hosted by Werner Oberholzer, Vice President of Manufacturing. Edward Bardalis, Vice President of Human Resources for Latin America; Philip Jones, Director of Human Resources; Mauricio Serrano, director of the Jerzees Nuevo Día plant and heads of the various departments of the company.

Also in attendance was Mrs. Fani Instruza, Director of IHER Headquarters No. 9, who took the oath to the new professionals, who had obtained their certificates at that time.

The IHER program has been a success thanks to volunteer facilitators who have dedicated their time, knowledge, and energy to educating the next generation of graduates. The system lasts for ten months and is divided every three months, with four chapters being presented every quarter. Classes include Honduran history, mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, Spanish, English, social studies, and the arts, and are taught by volunteers from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. outside working hours. Each student must also participate in a community service project in order to graduate.

Since its inception in 2012, more than 450 employees of Fruit of the Loom, Inc. In Honduras a high school diploma as part of the program.
