Madrid, 21 (Europe Press)

The Airlines Association (ALA) celebrates that the government allows travelers from the UK and Japan to travel to Spain without the obligation to present a negative PCR test.

The head of the organization, Javier Gandara, also expressed his satisfaction with the approval to exclude all travelers from third countries from this obligation, as of June 7, who can prove that they have received the full vaccination schedule, a procedure and the union has demanded on several occasions.

“There is still a long way to go,” Gandara says. The ALA Chair indicated that we “still rely on decisions made by other governments, especially the UK government’s decision, to include Spain, or at least some areas, in the green category, instead of amber. Where we are right now.”

He also pointed to the problem that some Ibero-American countries offer vaccines that do not have WHO or European Medicines Agency approval, which means that they cannot benefit from the current PCR exemption after PCR is obtained. He was vaccinated. Gandhara believes that travelers of these nationalities should be able to travel by offering this test so that they can reunite currently separated families and thus restore tourism safely.

Finally, the association requested that consideration be given to the possibility of offering an antigen test as an alternative to PCR in those European countries where such testing is mandatory for travel.
